This week, we're crushing on Star Stylist and PR Guru, Jennifer Cahill who found Stella & Dot as an opportunity for financial freedom and flexibility in addition to her full-time job and busy life.
What's your day job?
I'm a Senior Director of Public Relations for a national non-profit. I manage a team of great people and we handle the communications, public relations and media relations for our national organization.
What does your household look like?
My husband I just got married last year (little blue Stella & Dot cards are great for those additional wedding expenses that you didn't budget for). It's the two of us and our 15-year-old pup, Maxie. And our house is growing because we just bought one and are saying bye-bye to apartment life, hello house expenses (and thank you, blue card)!
Why did you start your Stella & Dot business?
I started my Stella & Dot business to do something FUN! I was stuck in a work rut and there was a sign-up special that gave me the push I needed. I wanted to stretch myself out of my comfort zone, earn some extra money and get my jewelry addiction at a discount!
What would you tell people considering this opportunity?
Don't overthink it, just go for it! Believe in yourself and give yourself the best gifts: flexibility, fashion and fun!
Tell us your story!
I'm born and raised in the Midwest and now call Indianapolis home. Outside of my full-time job in PR and Communications, health and fitness are my big hobbies. My husband I spend a lot of time on the go, traveling to see our family and friends who live across the Midwest and now we're so excited to go on our first Glam Getaway (an all-expenses paid Stella & Dot trip) this spring!
What opportunities has Stella & Dot afforded you?
S&D has given me so much financial freedom and flexibility. My first two years of Stella & Dot earnings went to a new car earlier this year and with the purchase of our first home, all my earnings are now going toward a new piece of furniture!
How do you find time for it all?
Time management is key! I try to sit down and plan my week out on Sunday evenings, including my list of reach-outs for the week. Then I use my lunch breaks and drive home to make calls and reach out. Usually a few hours after work each week, I plan my Trunk Show dates early in the month so that I can plan around work events, Girl's Night Out, weekend trips and date nights. But it all comes down to priorities. If it's important to you, you'll make time for it.
What's your favorite piece in the line? What style is the most popular with your customers?
I love a good statement necklace (crushing on the Constantine Feather Necklace right now and can't wait for a holiday party) but my favorite piece is probably my Covet Initial- I wear it every single day! I've also been selling a ton of the Terney Layered Necklace and Logan Layered Necklace and wrap bracelets, always!
How many Trunk Shows do you hold a month and how much do you make with your Stella & Dot business?
I generally have 4-6 in-person Trunk Shows a month and 1-2 online shows and make around $2,200 a month.
What else would you like people to know about Stella & Dot?
To me, Stella & Dot is so much more than a side gig - it's empowerment, joy, flexibility, independence and friendship. In such a crazy world, I love that this company and tribe can help spread love and happiness.
