We were honored to travel with Every Mother Counts founder, Christy Turlington Burns, and her team to Haiti this September to visit their partner, Midwives for Haiti as they celebrated their 10th anniversary.  VP of Training, Danielle Redner, along with Independent Stylists, April Lopez, Emily Rini, and Staci Klugh, traveledto see firsthand the challenges women face trying to access quality maternity care in Haiti. From walking 5 miles over rough terrain to the nearest birth center, to accompanying midwives on home visits, and attending the Midwives for Haiti graduation, it was a life-changing experience for everyone.

“I was immediately overcome with the notion of “it takes a village to raise a child.” Never has that rung so true to me. In a modern, tech-advanced society where distance is no longer a barrier, our village is now the world. The global community is now our village. And it’s our responsibility to raise, educate, protect, and love these children, these babies of our world. It starts with their mothers.”
